日本「產經新聞」報導，蔡英文今天成為中華民國首位女總統。身著米白西裝外套、內搭白上衣及黑長褲的蔡英文面對著青天白日滿地紅的國旗，齊唱國歌，高舉右手宣誓，就任為中華民國第14任總統。
日本「時事通信社」報導，59歲的蔡英文就任為中華民國第14任總統，成為台灣史上首位女總統。預料她的就職演說將提到兩岸政策。
時事社指出，這是民進黨時隔8年重新取得政權。中國大陸要求蔡英文政府要接受以「一個中國」為原則的「九二共識」，但一般認為，蔡英文不會接受。
報導還說，前總統馬英九政府與中國大陸之間以「九二共識」為基礎進行交流，以經濟為主軸，改善了兩岸關係。去年11月，馬英九與中國大陸國家主席習近平會談，這是1949年兩岸分治以來，兩岸領導人首度會談。不過，與中國大陸保持距離的蔡英文政府上台，可能使得兩岸關係再度變冷。
今天在總統就任儀式之後，行政院長林全等內閣閣員也宣誓就職，新內閣上路。民進黨在立法院擁有過半數席次，蔡英文的政權基礎穩固。
